It's finally Friday!!! Ok, so I've missed 2 days of work this week, but I'm still thrilled that it's Friday. Probably because of my 5 day weekend.

I was thinking I should have a huge party at my sister's house, then I realized that I don't know too many people in Maryland... :-P

I'm looking forward to doing very little, and playing with Mr. Toaster a lot.

OK, so I've totallybeen out of the mood to make posts. I still am, but oh well. I have a meeting with my kiddies at work tonight, so I've got time to kill. I really just want to go home and sleep - but I can't do that and be back here by 6:30. Darn.

My dad gave me a cold for Father's Day. I guess he didn't like the tie I gave him. But anywho, this cold just keeps getting worse. Bah. I only worked for an hour on Monday, and today I'm not volunteering with the old folks. Silly being sick.

After work on Friday I'm heading up to Ellicott City to house sit for my sister and brother-in-law. They're going to the Bahamas... I think... no... Bermuda. Yah, there. So I'm taking care of my nephew and the house. I'll be there till Wednesday, so it'll be a nice vacation, even if it's not to Bermuda. Then I'll come back to work for 2 days, and I'm gonna go spend the 4th in Blacksburg!!!!!!! I've got some final stuff to get from the apartment, so I'll get that while chillin' with the peeps.

Well, I'm home. There's a lot of stuff that's been going on, so let me just start out by saying that it may take a few posts to cover everything.

Some interesting things about Kansas City:
-I was in the Missouri side, which is apparently the "better" side.
-The Kansas and Missouri Rivers meet in the middle of Kansas City, dividing it between Kansas and Missouri.
-The Savoy Grill (a very expensive restaurant) has a booth with a plaque that commemorates it as being Harry Truman's favorite table.
-Folger's Coffee was founded in KC, and there is still a plant there. It smells yummy driving by!
-KC is home to the oldest "shopping center" in the country. The Country Club Plaza was built to resemble the Italian architecture of Venice.
-KC is known as the "City of Fountains" because it boasts over 150 fountains.
-KC is home to Hallmark cards.
-There is no such thing as vegetarian in KC.

HOORAY!!!!!!!!!! So I'm leaving work now, and won't be back until next Wednesday afternoon! What a deal. Actually I'm heading out in the morning to Kansas City (Missouri, not Kansas)for a conference. I'll be getting paid for travel time and the hours I'm at this thing, plus the hotel, registration fee, and airfare are all covered for me. It's almost a paid vacation!I'll have all afternoon tomorrow to do whatever I want, as well as all afternoon on Saturday... I'll let you know what I did when I get back!

In the middle of an unexpected midday deluge, I remembered that I left my car windows cracked, assuming that the bright, sunny, clear sky was a sign of the weather... Silly me. You will be happy to know that my "Stain Defender" Dockers khakis worked quite impressively - the water that was pelting my legs simply beaded up on my pants, and while they are a bit damp, they are not soaking wet.
Nother Link O' the Day! Enjoy!
