I didn't end up going down to Tech this weekend, and unfortunately I missed a GREAT game. I had my migraine from Wednesday night through Sunday morning, and I still am having achy back and neck muscles.

I watched the game on tv and slept a lot. Yay.

I also made a business card holder. :-) It's really cute. I'll try to take some pictures and post them on here. It's my own design. ;-) I didn't use a pattern and sewed it all by hand. It would have been much faster with a machine.

Now it's back to the old nitty gritty. Boo. Not so much a fan. I'm counting down till I get to leave my job.

Well, Happy Turkey Day!

Mine wasn't great... :-( I got a migraine last night and it has continued through the whole day. I couldn't even eat too much because I had nausea from it. :-( And the food was really good too.

I ate a little more tonight because the nausea went away. But now I'm not sure that was a good idea.

We watched Mystic River tonight. I wasn't in the mood, but it was a really good. I'd like to see it again.

Now I'm gonna work on getting better so I can go down to Tech for our last home game. In the past 17 years, VT's won 12 home closers. Let's make it 13/18.

I'm finally settled in my new office. It's smaller than my old one, but works out just fine. It's nice because I'm in the same building as eveyone else. Plus I'm upstairs, which is an added bonus. The bosses are downstairs so I can play some.

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. Lauren and Matt and Gramma and Clagett are coming down. That means I'm working on cleaning while Mom cooks and Dad picks up something here and there between reading papers. It's tough to clean because I've already cleaned up everything of mine and I don't know what to do with the rest. Then Mom gets mad because I don't know what to do, but she'll also get mad if I put something somewhere where she can't find it, or where it doesn't belong.
Plus if I suggest moving things to the basement for now, she says, "Why? So we can move it again later?" We're going to be doing work on the basement, but the way things are going now, it's not going to be for a while.
I just want to throw stuff away. I suggested that we rent a dumpster and just throw a bunch away some weekend.

There are times I can't wait to move out and into my own place. Then I want to go back to school. Which means no money and therefore living at home for longer.

Sorry for the rant. I'm bored at work, and it's only 10:45am. The Exec Director left early yesterday and isn't here today. Everyone else has to work. I am not sure why she doesn't. She must get like 8 weeks of vacation each year. Or more... with the amount of time she takes off.

Looking for a neat place to shop? Ten Thousand Villages provides vital, fair income to Third World people by marketing their handicrafts and telling their stories in North America.

I guess this is kind of an ad, but check out the website. The stores are run mostly by volunteers and have some of the coolest crafts from third world countries throughout the world.
This was a GREAT long weekend. The only thing better than Hokie football is when it's at night in Lane Stadium... and the only thing better than these night games is when they're on a Thursday night and I take two days off of work to see the game. :-)

I learned an invaluable lesson on Friday night - which I feel I must share with everyone. NEVER accept a shot called a "Prairie Fire"... trust me on this. It is Tabasco and Tequila. I can't even begin to describe how disgusting it was.

This week is another short one. I'm working Mon-Wed, then we're having Thanksgiving here. On Friday we're all heading to B'burg for the last home game of the season. :-(

In the mean time, I'm helping to clean the house for company. Woo.

HOORAY for 4 day weekends!

Tomorrow night VT is playing Maryland, so I'm taking the day off and going to cheer them on. There is NOTHING better than a night game in Lane Stadium. Especially a Thursday night game :-P

It was fun while in school because a lot of profs cancelled class. But now it might even be more fun because I get to take off from work!

The only thing that might make it more fun is if Matt were going to be there. Silly boy. He says he has too much going on at work. I guess he won't be the barrier between us and the weird drunk guy that sits on the other side of him :-P I do believe, however, that Sonja will be joining us. So that will make up for no Matt :-)

Maybe I'll be able to talk someone into getting a rail before the game :-P Just to keep warm. You know. Plus I haven't had one since the size decreased.

I'm almost all moved into my new office. I'm actually going to move my computer over today and then all that needs to be moved still are some boxes that I'm leaving for the movers.

I went with Jenny to see the new Bridget Jones on Friday night. It was cute - but not as good as the first. Jenny said she'll have to watch both over and over again to be able to decide which she thinks is better. :-P
After the movie, Jenny thought she lost something under her seat. In her search, she found a credit card. We took it to one of the theater employees. That was an omen of what was to come.

I've lost my debit card. :-( I've never lost it before. I looked everywhere, and Jenny searched her car. I called last night to report it. The lady was laughing at me I think. To verify that it was my account, she wanted me to give her the amount of my last deposit. Umm. Well, it was a couple of checks so I didn't know the total. I felt slightly stupid. But I should get my new card in 7-10 business day. Oy.

In better news, I had Jenny over for birthday ice cream yesterday. I set up a make our own sundae bar. Mmm... a tasty birthday treat.

And the only other new thing I can think of... Annie bit my pinky last night :-( She din't break the skin or anything, but I think she might have bruised the nerve or twisted it or something. It really hurt last night and now it's just achy. Stupid pinkies. What are they good for anyhow?

I hadn't posted in a while so I thought I'd go ahead and do that now :-P

I've actually been working full time hours. So that's made me pretty busy. Wednesday was KT's birthday. She's old like me now. Jenny's birthday is tomorrow! She's almost old like me.

Jenny and I are going to see Bridget Jones tonight. While we were making plans last night (during commercial breaks in The O.C.) she told me that her next door neighbor died, and the funeral is tomorrow at noon. She's gotta go to a funeral on her birthday?!?! That is probably the WORST way to spend a birthday that I can think of.

I'm looking at taking some classes at GMU next semester and also taking a Grad class in Urban Planning at Tech's NoVA campus. I've considered all kinds of grad programs - mostly things I "could" do. Urban Design is something that I actually WANT to do. I've been looking into it for a long time, and have talked myself out of it in the past because I don't have any background in design. A lot of people that go into grad programs for design, though, have similar academic backgrounds as mine. So I'm going to give it a bit of a shot.

Yesterday I went into DC for a job fair. It was a waste of time. The one agency I really wanted to talk to didn't show up. Most of the jobseekers were still students - or midcareer. And a lot of the things available were internships or AmeriCorps stuff. I'm over that. :-P

I'll update more later. We're working on moving to the other building. So I'm packing up my office... Slowly.

For a while I was feeling great and thought I was finally able to stop thinking about Dave. But now it's back. I don't even know why. I don't know why I keep thinking about him because I'm pretty much afraid to talk to him for fear that he'll tell me to bugger off.

GRR... It makes me mad at myself. Why can't I get over my stupidity once and for all and just move on?
Well I swear I wrote a post earlier... and it says I did... bet there is no text to accompany it. Ah well. You'll have to trust me that it was a good one ;-)

Next week I'm going to a nonprofit job fair at GWU. It's on Thursday and I have the day off (lo and behold - another Federal holiday!) so I figure it can't hurt.

Work is going a little better. My executive director has not been around much (we should start an office pool or something to guess where she's spending all her time.) so I've not had to deal with her. I also talked to my supervisor about the fact that I'm finished in 3.5 months and there is going to be no one to continue my program. We worked out a new direction for my remaining time - that has taken out a lot of the pressure I was feeling before. I'm going to work on ways of getting the youth program info out to those who want it without needing an extra staff person to run it. If that makes sense. Anyhow, I'll be working on a website, databases, and PR materials.

At some point this month I'll be moving into the building next door with everyone else. Not sure when that will be, but I do think it'll be easier to work with other people around.

Not work related news...
On Halloween my mom's coworker brought her 3 little boys by. They are 5, 4, and 4mos. They were so cute! And the girls next door came over to get candy... Then 2 random boys came by. That was all of our trick-or-treaters. More candy for us!

And FINALLY... our front walk/ stoop should be finished in the near future (knock on wood). The "brick guy" should be starting to lay bricks today... I don't know how long it'll take, but we'll have front steps when he's done. Maybe I'll put a before and after picture up here when it's all done. :-P
This was just too funny not to share :-P
I voted... and I have a sticker to prove it! :-)
