I have a coworker who's pregnant. Well, I think the number is actually 4, but this one I actually talk to on a regular basis, and I like her enough to do something for her.

She actually had a baby last July, and I crocheted her a blanket.

This was while I was teaching myself to crochet. That baby was her second boy. She cried when she found out because she really wanted a girl. Of course, she loves her baby boy to death, but she still wanted a girl. I decided to go with yellow so as not to rub it in.

Anyhow, she's pregnant again. She's due at the beginning of September. She swore she was not going to find out the sex of the baby because she 1) did not want to be disappointed for 6 months because she knew when the baby came out she'd love her child no matter what; and 2) she thought it'd be really cool to have the whole family out in the waiting room when the doctor came out and said, "It's a ..." like in old movies.

I knew she wouldn't be able to not know. But she insisted. I started on a blue baby blanket. Well, I was wrong. It's a girl (as far as the ultrasound says for now). So I started the hunt for a pattern that would be good in pink, and I found one. But not before finding the best pattern ever.

And before I could continue with the baby blanket, I had to make it.

Ahh... summer vacation...

I haven't yet gotten a chance to relax, but hopefully that's soon. Luckily, things have been slowly getting less stressful. And, I no longer have to train the stupid girl at work.

I'm looking for new jobs - though somewhat unsuccessfully at the moment. Hopefully something will happen soon. My friend, Janet, at work has told me that if I'm still there at Christmas, she will throw me out the doors herself. I say if I'm still there at the end of the summer I'll be very disappointed in myself. Oh well. Que sera sera.

In the meantime, it's been a hectic schedule so far. I housesat for my parent while they wen't to Louisiana to visit my grandfather's wife. This involved feeding the cat (see picture) and killing the plants that apparently I was supposed to water.

Coming up, things include Mother's Day, weddings, bridal parties, job hunting, and getting ready for coworkers' babies.

Wow, I've been gone a long time. Trust me, you're better off for it.

This semester has been stressful beyond belief, but it's finally winding down. As of this coming Saturday at 3pm, I am done until the end of August. That's right, I have decided to save my money and my sanity and take the summer off.

Tonight I hand in the hard copy of a group report (a.k.a. nightmare project from hell). tomorrow I have the day off to work on the other group project (not from hell... though the class was pretty hellish) due on Wednesday. Thursday I have to give a 5 minute presentation on the paper I wrote for my ecology class (has been done for weeks). And finally on Saturday, I sit with my group and the rest of my classmates in a meeting room at the library on Commonwealth Ave. to show my work to anyone who's interested. Seeing as how 3 public meetings drew a grand total of 20 people, I don't think this will be too trying.

In other news, work has sucked lately, though this may be partly due to school being so stressful. It also has to do with my annoyance at people who don't seem to think they need to do their share of the work, or the actual job that they were hired to do.

Hopefully things on the job front will be changing soon, too. I've applied for a bunch of stuff, but have a bunch more to apply for. It's not too reassuring to know that my classmates nearer to graduation than I are losing out on entry-level planning jobs to PhDs. Even internships are sucking as prospects due to low pay, or targeting towards undergrads. Plus all the jobs I apply for want experience or internships, but I can't get any without a job or an internship. Aarrgghh! It never ends.

Hopefully more soon, as my plans for this summer include updating my online entities...
