Yep, I'm on a diet. I have been, sort of, for a while, but never really wanted to call it a diet.
Let me clarify.
In July, I was diagnosed as prediabetic. Trust me, it was a SHOCK! Looking back, it shouldn't have been too much of a shock. I knew that I ate junk - a lot of junk. I ate fast food because it's quick and easy, I ate candy because I craved sugar, and I never paid attention to portion sizes or calories.
So the doctor told me that I should "treat" the prediabetes with a drastic change in my diet. This was right before summer vacation - which would be followed by moving from one apartment to another. Not the best/easiest time to embark on a diet.
I've alway known what I should eat, but it seems as though there is a lot more work involved in eating right. Cooking, planning, and time... Ugh! I haven't quite made the drastic changes that I perhaps should have, but I have been keeping track of calories, and have cut out fast food for the most part.
It's amazing how keeping track of calories has helped me to eat less. I guess it's knowing how much I've actually eaten that makes me willing to stop.
So far, I've lost 17 pounds, and am hoping for more. I may start trying harder as winter approaches, but we'll see about that!
